fri sat and sun

I’m supposed to have a lot of time, but somehow I haven’t had time to use the com, so I shall summarise some events that took place over past 3 days :)

02/01/09 (Fri)

After almost 2 years, I finally met up with my JC classmates again. Even though we didn't do much, only had dinner at vivo city, but I must say the mini gathering was quite meaningful. Initially I was sceptical that the meet will go normally, but it turned out that I was wrong :) We used to have harmless squabbles in school, especially between the guys and girls, but now it seems everyone has matured? I’m not sure. All in all I enjoyed myself that night, in terms of keeping updated with their lives etc. Which is more important… a rare opportunity for class BBQ at peace’s house or 团契in church this sat night… Think I’ll ask Cai Xia 老师.

03/01/09 (Sat)

Met up with James in the morning for a swim :) I’ve got 2 things 2 say: there were a lot of people, as such we had quite a tough time swimming in a straight line, and… we should do this more often! tpy swimming complex still gives me a intimidating feeling :( I still rmb my polo coach telling us on the 1st training, (it was a sat morning too) "30 laps freestyle, 30 laps butterfly. go!" that seems so long ago... haha. After that we did 灵修. I found it really enriching, not only from what we can learn from the bible, but also by just talking, I realised that actually the problems we face (not just referring 2 James, but people in general) are very similar. Essentially if our entire lives were like a road, with everything that comes our way as obstacles, everyone’s road would be somewhat alike. Having said that, it’s often difficult to pursue God’s wisdom alone, but rather, like how the bible teaches, we should have at least another bro/sis in Christ who will motivate along the way.

I finally got my new phone yesterday! Haha, I’m so happy. At last I dun have to use the ‘army’ phone anymore and I can get back to snapping photos wherever I go again. I used to take a lot of photos, but that habit was lost when I entered NS. So hopefully with this 8megapixel phone I’ll able to post some photos here. In my opinion, photos serve an important role as they’re a visual record of the various phases of my life; they dun need to be artistic whatsoever, but would be a bonus if they were, haha. For instance, I’ve already forgotten some incidents that happened in JC, but after looking at the photos, the memories came back instantly. Without them, I guess I wouldn’t remember the people and emotions I felt back then.

04/01/09 (Sun)

I shall leave the changes to youth service in church 2 another post otherwise this will b yet another long post. (Like it isn’t already) Like many who attend sermons by Dr. Stephen Tong, I never find 1which is not exceedingly rewarding. That Sunday night’s sermon was no exception. I used 2 ask myself, do I really need to know the bible in detail? Aren’t the fundamental and vital doctrines sufficient? Why I ask this is because some people are saved; they’re able 2 enter God’s kingdom, without having even read the bible or stepped into a church. So I too can be saved as long as I’m aware of what I believe right? But I’m thankful that I dun have that thought anymore. I’m in no position to question God’s command, that is to not be satisfied with my current understanding of the bible, but ought to persistently learn more, so as to benefit others, not myself.

So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.” Luke 17:10
