it's hard not to be intriguiged

By a paper shredder machine. My workplace has one, and it’s quite an amazing thing. The sight of feeding it with paper reminds me of someone slurping down noodles. It takes anything! Printing paper, crumpled paper, fax paper, recycled paper, paper with ink on it. For a while the papers look edible, and looking at it for too long can be dangerous cos you might go into a trance, haha. At the end of work everyday where we have to shred some documents, I’ll prepare them before hand so I get to play with the thing. But sometimes my colleagues want to do it so while still maintaining the ‘professional look’ I let them carry out the job instead :(

I get to see interesting ppl coming to the clinic. Some are impatient thus causing a bit of a commotion. A few rare ones are polite. Some insist on seeing a doctor from a particular race. Some come directly to the counter and ask if they can purchase a MC. Some are students who come in with all smiles and laughter, how ill can they be? Shouldn’t they e in school? 真是浪费他们的青春。Some come in a convoy where one person is ill and the rest are there just to accompany him. Some are couples, young and old. Once, there were 2 students (from a reputable JC which uniform colour is beige) waiting for their turn when they started kissing! Normally I wouldn’t but since I was protected by the piece of glass in the office, I gave them a hard stare, hoping that they will notice and realise how shameful they should be. Eventually one of them found out and they stopped. What a disgrace to the school. After which I happily got back to work :)

After Slumdog Millionaire won 8 awards at the Oscars, I decided to watch the show with my sis and see what the hoo-ha was all about. Without a doubt, the show deserves to be hailed as the best show of 2008. I was tired that day so I thought I might fall asleep just as how I struggled to stay awake during Benjamin Buttons. But nooo… haha. Each scene takes you to a different emotional level, so you won’t be numbed by the same feeling for too long before another takes over, unlike another show… haha. Comedy, drama, romance, horror, it encompasses all of these. It illustrates child labour and prostitution, brutality, violence, starvation, humiliation, yet it also highlights the human spirit, the basic desire to survive which transcends all race and culture. I sound like of those movie critics, haha.

Went to celebrate my grandma’s 80th birthday with my family and some distant relatives I’ve seen maybe once or twice in my life. I wonder how many of us she still remembers. Just as I’m typing this she just forgot to turn off the tap, haha. She’s quite cute in some ways, very child like, a far cry from how she used to be where everyone was terrified of her, even the house dog, haha. My dad asked me to guess the cost of the dinner celebration and the correct answer was 3 times that of my guess! I told my dad it was just way too costly and not worth the money at all, 办80大寿固然重要,但如果平时能高高兴兴过每一天不是更好吗?To that he fell silent.

During dinner I asked my sis if she had any near death experience and she replied that she almost drowned once, and I caused it! I was like what?! How come I don’t rmb?! She continued that a long time ago we were playing in the baby pool and she was seated in a float, then I accidentally/ purposely pressed on 1 side of the float which caused her to overturn. She still vividly rmbs hearing me talking to my cousin with her overturned in between us, haha. And the image of my inverted baby legs standing on the pool floor, which she couldn’t reach, haha! And also how her hands were too short to reach the bottom of the pool. Eventually my cousin and I noticed that my sis was under water and was aggressively kicking her legs in the air. Somehow we managed to turn her back. The irony of the whole incident, as my sis recounted was that as she walked up the steps of the pool crying, my dad was reading the papers beside the pool and had no idea what was going on, haha.

After dinner we went to my grandma’s house where my sis n I thought we should accompany the dog since he’s alone most of the time. We were playing with it for about 15 min when it suddenly went crazy and attacked my sis! As a result she had a few minor cuts on her thighs :( stupid dog. Just like how I used to call my old dog, 笨狗!But I really liked my dog...

To those who are busy/ stressed preparing their exams/ work and still making time to 事奉,加油!
