heart examination

I underwent a medical checkup lately and the doctor said that I had to have these medical checkups for the rest of my life. The doctor is God and the checkup is His Word in this analogy. As bizarre as this may sound, my heart is indeed full of problems and in order to lead a healthy life, I need these medical checkups.

他对我说,我的恩典够你用的。因为我的能力,是在人的软弱上显得完全... 我什么时候软弱,什么时候就刚强了。林后12:9-10

Here’s a passage I'd like to share in my recent qt. This verse is not new to me but when I read it again this time, 我深深地被使徒保罗的话穿透。What does Paul mean to have God's strength perfected in my weakness? How can weakness beget strength?The formula of 软弱=刚强 just doesn't equate. There couldn’t be a more obvious anomaly, at least in my opinion. 我因此也为着自己的矛盾感到恼怒。

After some pondering, I realized that the above equation does in fact make sense. Even before I could clearly lay out my thoughts, I was marveled by God's infinite wisdom and ability to give peace despite the present negative outlook. Lord You allowed this to happen, so I can only believe that You have a greater plan, and ask that You give me courage and wisdom to handle it.

Strength comes when I am humbled before God and obedient to His Word. Paul must have known this that he may cry out "For Christ's sake, I delight... in persecutions. For when I am weak, I am strong." And by this the formula is not flawed: Jesus said "My strength is perfected in your weakness." Not just manifested, but perfected.

This is a song wanxin told a few of us about and the entire song consists of just these lines. Well, there are no mountains in Singapore, but these simple words were repeated in my head when I needed help. 我的帮助从何来? 我的帮助创造天地的耶和华而来。
