israel

Yesterday's news reported that Israeli commandos had raided a flotilla of aid ships in international waters which were transporting food to Gaza waters and, in the assault, killed more than ten peace activists. Then just a while ago I walked past my parents’ room and saw on the news, Muslim-protestors in Malaysia and Indonesia burning the Israeli flag on the streets. I asked my dad what was happening, and he said "全世界都在反以色列。"

Without first understanding the facts, it is easy to condemn Israel for yesterday's misfortune at sea. Firstly there is no food shortage in Gaza, so why send food? Second, even if it wanted to, why reject Israel's security blockade to screen the ships? The Israeli soldiers were attacked by the angry passengers onboard with metal rods and knives, and even threw them off the deck of the ship. In the face of such a dangerous mob, it was only expected of the Israeli soldiers to respond in self defense.

A pastor once said that he had no idea when the end of the world would come, but knows that today is a day closer than yesterday. These incidents are just testament to the prophecies in the Bible being fulfilled. The Bible says that in the last days, the whole world will stand against Israel; God’s elect, so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Even if the most powerful nation, arguably the US, is not pro-Israel, God says that that those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed. Gen 12:3.

So let's pray for the peace of Jerusalem as Ephesians 6:12 writes "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
