few more weeks before i cant slack anymore

I’ve been very fortunate to have so much free time since my ORD. I was wondering when I can be so carefree again, where I can wake up / sleep late, do whatever I like and not meet deadlines :) and I concluded that it would be when I retire when I’m old.

Last Thursday was quite an eventful day. Accompanied my sis from her school (ngee ann poly) to plaza sing and cathay to give some magazines, then to the subordinate courts in china town. And finally back to cathay astons for dinner with church ppl.

For one of her reports, my sis had to observe a court procedure. We went into one of the trials (it's opened to public), and took a seat as we guessed what that hearing might be about. The mood was very serious; policemen randomly casting stern glares at us as they paced around the courtroom, people whispering to each other, lawyers reading through their documents and family members looking worriedly at their loved one, who is handcuffed and detained by policemen inside a caged cubicle.

A policewoman asked for our ICs and we gave her, together with those seated around us. We got a nasty shock when we realised that one by one, those who had just given their ICs were being called to stand trial before the judge! We had sat at the wrong side of the room, haha. But luckily a policeman kindly returned our ICs when I told him about the mix-up. After which we left the courtroom, feeling blissful not to have been summoned by the judge before we realised our silliness. We wouldn’t have any lawyers to represent us.

Siblings get fine and jail sentence for misleading policeman.

Dinner at astons was not bad, I thought the food tasted okay and it wasn’t too expensive either :) but I definitely preferred eating 豆花 at the alley, the plastic chairs and wooden tables, placed on uneven ground and the night sky above our heads, with occasional breeze that air con can’t offer. Though there was an unpleasant stench at where we sat, food more simple and backdrop less extravagant than at Astons, but it’s the company that matters right? A few years down the road and I’d have probably forgotten that we once ate at a restaurant. More likely I’ll remember that we ahad 豆花 at an alley, haha. All these reminded me of the place I grew up in, whampoa. It’s hard to find places like these in S’pore nowadays, which should be a good thing. I wonder when we can meet up for meals like that night, the reason being just to eat and not only to meet up during special occasions.
